I bought this watch to replace a lost (oops!) Garmin 610 that my wife gave me as a gift. The 610 is quite expensive, and I figured my preferences got me a 10: I prefer buttons over a touchscreen, I don't use a heart rate monitor, and I don't need fancy features. 10 seemed like a good option. As it turned out, 10 was all I expected, with one point of dissatisfaction. Joy: pace, distance, time and average pace versus instant pace. I knew I wouldn't see distance, pace and time, but I'm just calculating the time in my head, given distance and current pace. Yes, I use the instant pace - it feels accurate, doesn't bounce around much and is more useful to me than an average pace, which can include a much faster or slower previous section of the run. acceptably fast, which is more than I could say about my 610, although signal reception seems to vary wildly by user, conditions, and even between watches of the same model. works for me In running watches, I prefer function to form, and 10 is a pleasure. The buttons are very comfortable and the screen is easy to see and understand at a glance. I have small wrists and the large (men's) version fits me with 1/3 of the strap left. I would caution men to stay away from the smaller version as the band may seem too small for you. The nice thing about the 610 vs. 10 was that wireless data downloading was a matter of course with the 610. It still required a small USB interface though, and I prefer to have just one accessory for 10 - a power cord that also boots. But wireless is always better. Dissatisfied: My 10 watch's storage space is telling me it doesn't have enough storage/storage space to accept two updates that Garmin's software update tool says are available for the watch. That's bad form from Garmin, especially when I don't have saved runs so the watch is as empty as I can make it. It knocks off a star.
