I have been using only iPhone brand smartphones for a long time. The problem with these phones is that there is no way to insert another physical SIM card. There is only an option with e-sim, but personally this option is not at all convenient for me, since I need not only the ability to insert a SIM card and have an additional phone number on one phone, but the ability to create an additional account in the WhatsApp messenger. This cannot be done on one phone, only through the "WhatsApp business" application, which personally does not suit me.
It was in order to be able to use another account in this messenger that I decided to purchase this phone.
I needed an inexpensive smartphone with the ability to download apps that have been removed from all known app stores. Therefore, my choice fell on the phone brand "Huawei" from the Nova line model Y61.
I planned to purchase this smartphone in blue, but the problem is that the store did not have phones of this color in stock at the time of purchase, so I had to purchase what was in stock. I bought a smartphone in mint color. I'm not saying that I'm very upset, because the color is generally very pleasant. In extreme cases, you can wear a cover of any color, this is not a problem at all.
I would especially like to note the relatively low price of this product with such a good configuration. Yes, I am a devoted user of Apple technology, but the absence of a charging unit and headphones in the latest models upsets me greatly, since the price of these smartphones is very high, and the build is about nothing.
This phone is sold in a cardboard box. Inside it is the phone itself, a brochure with information about the device, a charger, a type c wire, a transparent silicone case, a needle for opening the tray for a SIM card and a memory card. Also, after starting to use this device, I noticed that there is a film on the screen, that is, the screen will be protected. Of course, this is not a shock-resistant glass or a hydrogel film, but in any case, many smartphones do not have such an addition, so I note the presence of an already pasted film on the screen as a big plus.
The transparent cover that was in the box also made me very happy, but if you wish, of course, you can change it to a color one (there are a lot of options on sale).
When activating this device, I needed to sign in with my Huawei account. Since I didn’t have any devices of this brand before, I created a new account. Creating a Huawei account and activating a new device did not take long. When I turned on this smartphone, I found that a software update was required, I didn’t start the update right away, I did it later. The process of downloading and installing the update did not take long.
Everyone knows that the new Huawei devices do not support the "Google play" app store, but they found a way out and created their own "AppGallery" app store. This application store has various software that is not available in the "Google play" store, as well as in the "App Store". The application of sanctioned banks are also present in this store. I had no problems installing and downloading. After downloading each application from a third-party source, the phone scans it for threats.
Unlocking this phone can be done in several ways: a graphic password, a fingerprint, or scanning the owner's face. I have used two methods to unlock the device: face unlock and fingerprint unlock, but I like the first option better. In my opinion it is much more convenient. Unlocking with the help of reading the owner's face occurs instantly, no problems and freezes are observed at the moment.
This smartphone is light in weight, it is very convenient to hold it in your hand. You can take a screenshot by double-tapping the screen with your finger, which is much more convenient than pressing two keys at the same time on the iPhone.
Since initially I didn’t buy this phone as the main one, but only as a spare, I didn’t really hope for the camera’s capabilities. This phone has the ability to shoot in portrait mode, and the camera itself is 50 megapixels. In fact, the camera here is clearly not up to par, especially when compared with more expensive devices. But as I said above, I don’t need a camera and its capabilities here, since for high-quality shooting I have my favorite SLR camera and iPhone. But since I am writing a review about this device, I consider it necessary to show the capabilities of its camera.
When I opened the Camera app, the device prompted me to make a choice: enable/disable mirroring. Of course I turned it off. I don’t like it when when taking a selfie, the frames are flipped, because the photo turns out completely different.
So, having tested the camera of this phone, I can say with confidence that it copes with its main tasks, but expect a professional from it.
It’s not worth it to be of social quality, but you can take a photo of the text, take a photo of a beautiful view, or just take a selfie. If you look at a photo taken with this phone, then in general the quality is satisfactory, all the details in the photo are perfectly visible, but when you zoom in on this frame, it becomes clear that clarity and sharpness are not to be expected.
