I rarely write reviews but I've spent hours deciding which exhaust to buy and thought I'd share it so I'm hoping someone will helps others. So I bought a Vance and Hines 3 inch slash slip for my new Heritage 114. They sounded good with the stock "Competition" mufflers, but a bit louder than I wanted. So I bought "quiet" deflectors. When I first installed it I was disappointed. You were too quiet! I pulled them out almost immediately, it was almost as quiet as stick! But I found a few comments online about them getting louder after a few hundred miles, in fact one review complained about how noisy they were. So I have a chance and they got a little louder pretty quickly. Now I'm very happy with 300 miles. Great tone, smoother/refined sound than the competition. Much quieter on video and when cruising, but still a lot louder than the standard. Squeeze harder and they come to life. There were no problems with the installation, the packaging was tightly wrapped in polyethylene from the factory. Maybe this is a recent change they made after all the previous installation issues. I'm only giving it 4 stars vs. 5 because some information/recommendations from the manufacturer regarding breaking in, changes in sound after a few kilometers, etc. would be very helpful.
