Review on Black Vornado 🔥 VH5 Personal Vortex Space Heater by Heather Rodriguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

(3.5 stars) Compact, attractive, efficient Vornado heater but a bit noisy

The Vornado VH5 is an attractive and compact heater. It is intended as a personal heater rather than a space heater, but can also be used to keep a very small space (about 75 square feet) warm. VERY COMPACT: The Vornado VH5 measures approximately 8 inches high, 7 inches wide and 6 inches deep. Hence it is compact. LESS POWER CONSUMPTION: This heater can run on 750W or 375W heat. I like the lower power and that it can't be adjusted to a level that would increase the electrical load. But of course it generates less heat than a higher wattage heater. So make sure it suits your needs. (If you don't need such a compact size, the Vornado MVH heater offers three power levels. We've used one of these successfully for years.) HEAT EFFICIENCY: I found the heater efficient for the wattage it draws. The Vornado fan system works well. However, if you use it in a large, drafty room, it may not work. ATTRACTIVE DESIGN: I find the design of Vornado heaters appealing. Some models offer color options, which is nice, but this model doesn't currently offer it. NOT QUIET HEATER: The biggest surprise was that this heater is a bit noisier than I expected. There appears to be fan noise from moving air and may be necessary for the compact design. But since this heater is something people are likely to be fairly close to - you have to be 3 to 5 feet away for it to work as a personal heater - the sound might not work in all situations. (If you don't need white noise.) NO THERMOSTAT: Like other Vornado personal heaters, the VH5 has no thermostat. This makes sense as it's not designed to maintain the temperature in the room. In addition, one less part that can break. But be warned if you plan on using this to keep a small space warm. TIP PROTECTION: When the heater is tilted, the switch turns off the heater. I'm a big Vornado fan, I have two other heaters and a big fan. They work very well at heating and moving air and are surprisingly quiet. VH5 wasn't what I expected. The Vornado VH5 is quite similar in design to the slightly quieter Vornado VH202 and VH203 (Champagne) heaters. These models may be a better choice for some people if you want a slightly quieter heater that is also slightly shorter in height but has a slightly taller base. The VH5 appears to have a slightly larger fan and possibly more airflow, but the fan makes a little more noise as a result. Inches (Height x Width x Depth) - VH202 size is about 7 x 8 x 7 inches - VH5 size is about 8 x 7 x 6 inches.
