Review on Schlage FE599NX CAM 716 ACC by David Stover

Revainrating 4 out of 5

quality lock. Four Stars

I installed this lock today and the physical installation was a breeze. This lock is well built, like all Schlages. I have two complaints that caused me to give four stars instead of five. To replace the batteries, you must first remove the lever handle and unscrew the inner cover. This will open the battery compartment at the bottom. It doesn't matter if the battery pack lasts a year or more and they work. Please note that I use lithium batteries to extend battery life. The second problem has to do with the integration with Samsung's SmartThings. Schlage has no documentation anywhere on how to pair the lock with SmartThings. I needed customer service to connect my lock. Customer service is exclusively by phone and waiting times are unpredictable. However, when I called customer service, they were able to resolve my issue in about 10 minutes. There are a few important points to keep in mind when pairing. First try manually programming the lock by adding your user codes and then deleting the ones that came with the lock. This step introduces you to the programming behavior of the lock. Second, run a device exception in the SmartThings app. Find your hub device in the app. Then look for Z-Wave Utilities in the menu. Trigger a Z-Wave exception by putting the lock in pairing mode. You do this by pressing Schlage, then entering your 6 digit programming code, waiting for 3 orange flashes, then entering zero. Your application must confirm the deletion. Third, now you want to connect the lock. Do this by adding a device in the app. Search for the Schlage brand and select Schloss Schlage. Next you need to choose the type of lock. Select "Keyboard Schlage" for this lock model. Now follow the instructions in the app. When the Schlage button flashes green, the lock has been paired successfully. It may take a few more minutes for the process to complete. Be patient.
