So far so good (and info on what not to mix and how to fix skin when products irritate it)

So far I like it although you don't slowly build up your skin to this tougher one Tolerating treatment, it can cause pain, tingling, redness, and irritation. However, I find it helpful for many skin problems. I think my skin is a bit dry so I'm working on finding the right combination of moisturizers and the right steps to fix it. IMPORTANT NOTE: Be careful. Do not mix any other skin care products or ingredients with it (regardless of what the website says!). To help you, I've put together a list of things NOT to mix at the same time and important tips. However, to be on the safe side, consult a professional dermatologist: • DO NOT MIX: - Do not mix Retinol with: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, AHA/BHA or Benzene Peroxide. - AHA/BHA should not be mixed with: retinol, vitamin C or niacinamide (and possibly peptides, but I'm not 100% sure) - VITAMIN C should not be mixed with retinol, AHA/BHA or niacinamide - VITAMIN E should not be mixed with retinol. -NIACINAMIDE should not be mixed with AHA/BHA or Vitamin C. -BENZOYL PEROXIDE should not be mixed with retinol. A NOTICE. Both retinol and AHA/BHA can be very helpful for a variety of skin issues. While you shouldn't MIX them, you can switch between them each night (e.g. Monday for retinol, Tuesday for AHA/BHA, etc.) once your skin can safely tolerate these more intense skin treatments. Don't try to do it right away, right away. • SUN AND CARE: Although not always mentioned on Drunk Elephant's website, in most cases retinol and AHA/BHA should be used at night as they are sensitizing. the sun, which can damage the skin. I don't know if applying sunscreen can fully protect your skin (let alone reapplying it). While you *can* use it when you're indoors, remember that harmful rays can enter your home, car, and workplace through windows. When out in the sun, no matter what you do or don't put on your skin, your daily routine should include an SPF of at least 30 (with repeated use). If you stay indoors, just away from windows, I would imagine hanging in a dark room all day would be enough, but I'm no expert. So it is best to use retinol and AHA/BHA in the evening and wash off in the morning. A cream or serum containing vitamin C works best for sun exposure, so it's best to use it during the day. • IF YOU LOOK UP SKIN TREATMENTS AND YOUR SKIN FEELS DRY OR IRRITATED: Take a break from harsh products and use very mild skin care products. little. Especially CERAMIDES. They are gentle and help to heal, soothe and hydrate your skin. I have personally used (and loved) Good Cera Super Ceramide Emulsion (pH 5.5/7 Free) which is a lovely gentle moisturizer. There are also things like ceramide masks that can help.
