Review on Sony ICF-C707 Clock Radio - AM/FM Dual Alarm with Large Backlit LCD Display for Easy Reading by Alif Wills

I saw the light

Bought because my old Sony alarm clock broke but returned it after one night. I had a big problem with the lighting settings on this watch. First, as you can see from the product image, the display consists of black numbers on a light blue background. I wasn't a big fan of this color scheme on electronic devices, but I saw that it had high, low, and off backlight settings - thought I could tweak it to an acceptable level. So the 'high' setting equates to a full moon in your room at night, and even the 'low' setting was quite bright once my eyes adjusted to the dark. So the only thing left is "off", as acceptable as possible, but the problem is the off. means off. Those are black numbers on a dark gray background, meaning you can't see the time at all in the middle of the night. Unless you hit the snooze button, which puts the damn thing into overdrive (full moon setting!). I just want to look at the clock, not go through the lighting settings. There was also a related but unforeseen issue: so if you turned off the backlight in the morning when the alarm goes off, the clock will light up to tell you the time, which is great, but then it'll go off less than a minute later when you press the snooze button. So you're in the dark again in case you look at your watch and want to see how far asleep you are. And when you press the snooze button to turn on the clock to see what time it is during the snooze interval, you reset the snooze time! Another problem: the snooze interval is fixed at 10 minutes, which seems pretty long for a snooze (I'm used to 8 or 9 minutes). I will say that the setup was very intuitive and the temperature readings were good. But if you're a person who doesn't like bright lights in your room when you're trying to sleep, but likes to keep track of time when you wake up in the middle of the night and during the snooze intervals (and want that interval to be to turn on the clock to see what time it is during the snooze interval reset the snooze time!
