I'm not a big guy, but I'll say I'm on the "softer" side. (My chest isn't where I'd like it to be.)Wearing this smooths everything, giving the appearance of a more toned chest. The tank is great because it's discreet, feels like a regular undershirt, and you can wear it in the summer, even under other tanks (I twist the straps a little so they can stay hidden under the normal tank straps)It also reminds me of my posture, I stand straighter while wearing.I wouldn't recommend wearing this if you're going to be sitting down a lot, it will roll up at the waist.These last a long time, my previous one I had for many years.
