November 22, 2020 At $45, this USB-C magnetic adapter is much more expensive than the less expensive $17-$22 magnetic adapters. I haven't tried the cheaper adapters, mainly because this adapter has 24 pins and the cheaper adapters have a maximum of 20 pins. I'm using this magnetic adapter on a 2019 16" MBP. As you can see in the picture, the computer charges at 94W (using a 96W power adapter), which is the same charging power as when the USB-C Cable is plugged directly into the computer's USB-C port. Problem with this magnetic adapter. I understand the concern that this bulky adapter will interfere with physically adjacent USB-C ports, but at least with this computer, I can use this magnetic Plug the adapter into one computer port and another USB-C cable into another, adjacent USB-C port with a gap of about 1mm (see graphic).
