I'll admit I was skeptical that this would actually do anything about the cat litter smell. To our great surprise and delight, it WORKS. We have a litter box in a large closet in the hallway. There is an outlet in the closet and we put this lamp there. You can hear the hum of the engine when you're close, but it's not in the part of the house where we spend a lot of time, so it doesn't really bother us. Thinking about plugging this in the middle of your kitchen or living room, I could see it's a nuisance. This is certainly a lower volume than a low setting on a white noise machine, if that helps give context. We definitely clean the tray regularly, but it still stinks. A few hours after I plugged this thing in, there was already a difference. no smell A week or two has passed and there is no smell. People came to us, we asked them, and they agreed - no smell. I highly recommend this device!
