iPhone message: This accessory may not be supported.

I was driving down the freeway and plugged my original Apple Lighting USB cable into the charger and after 30 seconds I got a message: This accessory may not be supported. I had to go to a gas station, buy a cheap charger and it worked perfectly. I will definitely come again.
