It broke in half. for chef's knife

My daughter used it once. It had dried fruit. I soaked it in hot water and dish soap along with the rest of the cutlery. When I went to wash the dishes that evening, it was cut in half as shown in the picture. Use once, wash once. I'm very disappointed because my daughter loved cutting fruit with it for a full 10 minutes.
