I'm just starting out with block printing so I don't know what the expensive ink will be. I have a couple of mid-range inks to compare to the ones I've used. It's quite thick, almost sticky. It rolls well and lays well on the block. Small things have a big impact. As it dries, it turns matte black and appears rough. The other ink I have also dries evenly but feels smoother, when it dries it also feels a bit thinner and I feel like I need a little more. For practice you can't beat the price, I wouldn't go so far as to say this is a great ink, but again I don't know exactly what a great ink would be (yet).
