I bought this alarm to use in my backyard barn after a recent burglary and I love it. It's loud, the flash in a dark barn at night is very bright, and it's the best standalone device of its kind I've ever used. I've read that a lot of people have trouble arming and disarming remotely with a remote switch, but mine works great. To properly use the key fob switch, simply point your hand directly at the sensor and hold the button continuously for just a short press until the flash blinks once - when I do this it works every time from a distance of 15 foot without fault. These units are NOT designed to be mounted low, but are mounted VERY HIGH, near the ceiling and out of reach, and tilted slightly downwards to prevent a burglar from picking them up. And yes, this alarm MUST have a 15 second delay to give the owner enough time to turn it off before it goes off and wakes the neighbors. Customers who require instant activation as an alarm should use this device in alarm mode and not in alarm mode. UPDATE: So after a little over a year the battery in the remote control was dead. I opened the remote, got a 23A battery from Walgreens and was able to collect it. Put the battery back in and the remote and alarm still work great. The best alarm clock I've ever had.
