I was doing heavy work on my vintage engine and needed to remove the cylinder head dowel pins. One thing that complicates things is that not only are they solid pins, they only protrude 1/4 inch from the engine bay. This kit treated them like butter with no issues. I damaged a pin with a vise. Grippers try to remove it before giving up buying this tool. Even when crippled, this tool still pulled it out without hesitation. The kit is of fairly good quality and has metric collets of 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12mm and 3 collets /16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8 " and 1/2" SAE. When installing, you will need about 16" vertical clearance above the pull-out anchor. This can be a problem where space is limited, but it takes up much less space than a slide hammer and is much safer to use. The hammer tool can also damage the delicate surface of the engine when installed on the pin, which should not be forgotten. Start deep into the engine from there. Also, don't forget to lubricate the threads of the tool before use. This does it very easy to use and ensures a long service life.
