Description of Cal Van Tools 95400 Puller Master

Fits the appropriate sized collet over the dowel; tighten the sleeve; use outer sleeve and nut to extract the dowel. Can be used with air ratchet or traditional ratchet. Elimination of the slide hammer saves cost as well as effort and potential hand injury. Master set includes both SAE and metric collets.

No more blisters! for puller

I've been pulling pins out of flywheels using slide hammer pullers for 20 years and as well as the pretty bad wear and tear I've gotten hundreds of bloody blisters from countless clamps over the years and this is the first time I've used this. i was sold Works great and is a lot easier than slide hammer pullers in every way and a lot cheaper than Snap-On, MAC or Matco.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!

Great product, good for tools and equipment

I work in an industrial company and one of my jobs is working with tool holders. I've had trouble removing dowel pins from some tools in the past. This product is a godsend for people like me. I like the ability to use a ratchet instead of a slide hammer like some other dowel pullers. It's also a lot less expensive than some of the other pullers on the market. It appears to be a good solid construction and I believe it will hold up for years to come. Thank you Cal-Van for creating such a useful

Worked great! for puller kits

I needed to remove a damaged bell/bell dowel pin on a 67 year old engine that I am in the process of overhauling. The Cal-Van puller worked great and the pin was easy to remove. The design of the tool is much better than the slide hammer puller as it is easier to install in any position including horizontal. It should come with detailed instructions but you can find it on You Tube if needed. Be sure to thoroughly lubricate the threads on the tool as well as the collet holder to ensure it ejects

  • Easy to use

The best pin removal tool.

There is no better tool for pulling pins than a collet. The reason for this is that you have friction around the entire circumference of the pen. The vise only grips 2 small areas of the surface so they are unlikely to stay in place. I hated paying $150 to get 3 pins out but when they came out it was worth it. The only flaw is that the collets are designed to fail prematurely. There is no other way to express it.1. Collets are not as hard as they should be. No amount of grease will stop the…

No more pliers and welding

I was doing heavy work on my vintage engine and needed to remove the cylinder head dowel pins. One thing that complicates things is that not only are they solid pins, they only protrude 1/4 inch from the engine bay. This kit treated them like butter with no issues. I damaged a pin with a vise. Grippers try to remove it before giving up buying this tool. Even when crippled, this tool still pulled it out without hesitation. The kit is of fairly good quality and has metric collets of 4, 5, 6, 8…

Handy for outboard rebuild projects

Bought for some outboard rebuild projects; I took apart a 99 Force 40 HP that was in rough condition and completely rebuilt it. It was basically my practice engine for another 60hp Merc 2-stroke I have with a bad piston (the latter I can resell for a lot more money). There were 2 locating pins on the motor mount where the washer sits between the leg and the adapter plate (adapter between the leg and powerhead) that SHOULD NOT move. So I was finally able to get her out. Tips: Tighten the Bejesus

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Works amazingly well!

I bought this tool to remove dowel pins from a Toyota 22RE engine block. I had previously tried removing them with pliers, but aborted the mission before chewing on the pins too much. I checked YouTube and found a video about this tool, so I decided to risk it. Impressive. I'm glad I did. When the tool first arrived, I was a bit disappointed at first. Not a big fan of their galvanized parts, although the collets themselves are pretty well made. The tool doesn't look like China or India or…
