Advantages: plug and play, price is not bad, and. It works out. Cons: The cable is not detachable. I would recommend using it with a very portable laptop where cable length is not a major concern. I'm not too concerned about using it with my desktop due to the layout of my case where the DVD driver is usually on top of the case. I can imagine it's going to be very frustrating if your case's USB port isn't on top.
