Both spools are packed in a box so that the thread cannot get caught. Also, they have a mesh top (like nets on onions or garlic) so they don't unravel; These mesh sleeves can be left on during use whether hand or machine sewing. You will also receive an attractive off-white mandala keychain with a gold mandala. Anyone who cares so much about their product gets an A from me.
