Children's sizes are more difficult to find in knitting patterns than children's sizes. (And who cares if it doesn't fit a baby? Too big and just wait, this baby will puff up amazingly to fit in any sweater.) This doesn't apply to children; they grow a bit slower, they are picky about their clothes and fit. So a useful book. It has sweater patterns that can be used for both boys and girls, even pants. The most useful section is about blocking and trimming and clipping. Necklines are rigid; Children have larger heads compared to their bodies, so it is good to understand how to adjust a neckline on children. I give the book 4 stars out of 5 because it lists a lot of acrylic yarns. (Frankly, there's some cotton in the book, too.) If you've read Elizabeth Zimmerman, she claims that wool is better for kids, although it has to be hand washed, and that the best wool isn't likely to itch. If machine washing is your thing, then acrylic is the fiber for you. If you need extra warmth, wool is best and you can always substitute wool yarns of the same weight as indicated in the patterns. Oh, there's also a little bit about patterns of your own designs, which is handy for people who want to knit HP sweaters and the like. Not a bad reference if you're knitting for your kids, grandkids or friends' kids, or even for charity.
