Bought two sets for my new apartment and used them for a week. They are the perfect weight and have not been damaged. I only hand wash them with 7th generation unscented soap. Putting them in the dishwasher or using an acidic soap (orange or lemon scented) will wear away the gold. However, this applies to ANY copper/gold plated cutlery set, even if it's from Crate and Barrel, which is four times the price. Perfect value for money and look forward to continued use in my new home
