I fell victim to 1990's building codes here in San Diego that mandated (horrible) fluorescent lights in my ceiling glasses in the kitchen. The lighting in my kitchen has been HORRIBLE for 30 years. I didn't think fluorescent lighting could be replaced because I figured the transformer and ballast were built into the permanent ceiling light. Thank god I was wrong! I easily removed the ballast and transformer which were attached to a removable base plate at the top of the glass. I cut the wires that powered the panel from the wall switch. I then cut off the threaded adapter that came with these lamps and connected these wires to the now exposed 120V wires with wire nuts. This was easy to do as Sunco added an extra orange connector between their LED light and lamp socket adapter. It would be much harder without that extra plug. I can't say anything about durability, but the brightness (4000 K) and the ease of installation are exceptional. Finally I can see in my own kitchen! Hallelujah! This is a great product, cannot recommend it highly enough. I've also used it to replace regular incandescent bulbs and it's the same (great) story. Doug D
