I bought one of these to replace a custom fire grate that had rusted. It was mentioned in the Questions and Answers section that they were not treated to allow them to rust. I took some Rust-Oleum black high-temp spray paint, trimmed it (I used bolt cutters, easy) and applied a nice double coat. It worked so we will, I bought 2 more and replaced the grills in my other 2 fire pits. If my BBQ grill or smoker grates start to fail I will definitely be replacing them with these (baked in oil instead of paint of course). I love her!
