Bearings and spacers are rubbish! DO NOT buy these CDs!

There are so many problems with these things that I don't know where to start. So let's start with this: I've been roller skating for over 20 years. I have tried several pairs of skates and many bearings and wheels. This is the worst thing I've ever seen. Note: The bearings and spacers are from AOWISH in the picture without the yellow towel. The one with the yellow towel, my old bearings. So here are the problems: 1) They are not "ABEC 9". The bearings are so slow it's not even funny. --- This is actually a common problem with bearings. In fact, there is NO external body that does quality control and verifies that the bearings match the actual ABEC rating, so manufacturers just label the bearings whatever they want. This happens all the time. 2) The spacers in the wheels are designed completely wrong. I took them apart because I noticed the spacers were moving in the wheel, which was NOT supposed to be happening. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- The ends of the spacers should go into the bearings, but these spacers do not. (The OD of the spacers is equal to the ID of the bearings. It is assumed that the OD of the spacers is SMALLER than the diameter of the bearings, so the spacer slides into the bearings.) 3) This is probably the BIGGEST problem. AOWISH bearings do NOT have a metal shield in the bearing that you can't see unless you pull it out of the wheels. There must be shields on BOTH sides of the bearings. Instead, they have a small plastic cover that doesn't even fit in the full bore of the bearing, leaving a gap. ---- This is a problem for two reasons: A) Grease is leaking from the bearing. Carry through that distance REALLY quickly once you start using them. B) Dirt gets INSIDE the wheel, not much but it happens. You don't want dirt getting into the bearings. My guess is that the wheels themselves probably aren't 80a hardness. These things are TOTAL GARBAGE again. I like to think they're just junk because they had an incompetent designer. But the lack of an internal metal shield totally tells me that they're trying to save $0.001 (or less) on each bearing they make with plastic instead of metal. They also probably design bearings to wear out very quickly, forcing you to buy new ones. My bearings are 15 years old. They probably have around 1000 miles on them and most of them are still great. I just have to bring them a toothbrush (without water) from time to time and brush them and then dry them.

  • nice thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
