We got these for our son's room. (He has Autism and especially enjoys fun decorative things like this.) The suction cups on the bottom only squish into place, making them easily removable and reveal a flat surface to allow for screwing the lights to a surface such as a wall or ceiling. (I'd also recommend buying some 1/4 inch cable mounting clips to hang the wires, which in my initial photo isn't done yet.) The cords are plenty long enough to mount the lights in a circle far enough away from a ceiling fan. The attached control is on a long enough cord to extend towards and down the wall without feeling tight, giving you some freedom of where to mount it at.The night mode gives a nice faint glow to the bedroom. During the day they still show reasonably well to give the walls a nice discoloration. I have noticed that the purple lighting does emit a bit of UV / blacklight, as it causes glowing of things that also glow with my UV flashlight.
