I was looking for a compact fluorescent lamp that can be used in table lamps where the lampshade is attached directly to the lamp. Conventional CFL spiral lamps are obviously not suitable for this. This lightbulb has a shape quite close to a standard incandescent lightbulb and it worked great in my lightbulb. this pear is frighteningly weak. Within 15 to 30 seconds it warms up and gets brighter to the advertised equivalent brightness of 60 watts. Of course, I've since learned that this is standard behavior for CFL bulbs. And in general for me it was a positive trait; I use this bulb in my bedside lamp, which I turn on in the morning when my alarm goes off, and it's nice not to be slapped in the face with a full 60-watt equivalent right away.
