My kennel is in the garage and I bought this to fit his bed. We live in Wisconsin and it's cold here in the winter. We have a portable kennel in the basement but my dog hates this kennel and will chew on it (broken tooth hates it). So we had to get something for the garage. My dog is 13 and has been urinating indiscriminately on his favorite garage bed (and heating pad) for the past few months. I haven't tried washing the pillow yet, I just wet it with a miracle of nature and let it dry. After all this it still works great. I turn up the carpet and cover the bed with a blanket. So when my dog crawls into his kennel, I lift the blanket and he is surrounded by warmth. Enough to make him pee on the bed ;)
