The Pearl Izumi X-Project is the mountain bike shoe you'll want to take with you on any outdoor cycling adventure. Quality craftsmanship, a unique BoA dial specifically placed in the center to prevent damage, a single Velcro strap for athletic comfort, and a carbon fiber sockliner for high rigidity make this shoe highly acclaimed. Finally, the PI 1:1 insole system is another welcome addition, allowing you to customize the insole for specific orthopedic needs. (I have flat feet). Note. I had to break in my shoes after a few rides before the toe box was no longer waterproof. Another downside that I found in my experience is the width of the shoe, which made it too narrow.
