Luckily I made another tailgate before ! It came with a box of other Amazon orders, they didn't come with instructions. If you are doing this on a 2011 Ram 1500, remove the sprocket bolt holding the tailgate cable (I did this on the driver's side). There is a hole in the bottom of the tailgate, the nut is installed and you hold the head of the hex bolt and lower the 10mm nut onto the bearing while you pull the nut onto the inside of the tailgate. Once the nut is tight, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN IT, the rear end will be snug against the inside of the tailgate! Remove the hex bolt, screw in the end of the ball joint and secure the strut to the tailgate with the protruding side down. Make sure the rack "clicks" and you're done. Hope that helps
