Review on ๐Ÿ“ Enhanced Qstarz BT-Q1000XT Bluetooth GPS Data Logger Receiver (66 Channels, AGPS, Vibration Sensor, 400K Waypoints) by Brian Unruh

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Short impression: (more detailed opinion later)

I have many GPS's but I liked this one for its excellent visibility, size, battery life and dual log/navigation. .So I got it and am trying it for about a week!1. Tracking accuracy and sensitivity! It's the best I've ever had (compared to Garmin Forerunner 310, Foretrex210, 60GPSSCx, older models of course). Tracking in dense canopy is very good and true when even my predecessor 310, which used to be my best handheld for sensitivity, started to drift. (I did a crude experiment by putting the device in my pocket while driving and it tracked it correctly! Amazing) 2 Bluetooth connection - no problem but I can't use mobile PC navigation software. (possibly user error - will report this later) 3 The accompanying delicate software - simple and working (windows environment) - vanilla only. 4 Geotagging with sensitive software is so-so. As some others have reported this sometimes happens randomly, the photo may be tagged at some distance although the tracking log is accurate. Take some time to understand and play around with this - it's probably a problem with the software tag algorithm! Disappointed with this (there are workarounds using another program - but that's not the issue here).5. Connection/communication with PC, sometimes devices are not recognized. I just have to turn it off and on again! For me, location accuracy, sensitivity and long battery life are more important than anything else. For these 3 attributes he can get 5.5 stars. But as a product I can only rate it 4 stars due to the listed shortcomings. Errors in geotags (not on all photos) can be annoying for picky users who are not very computer savvy. I'll play around with this for a while and come back with more details and actual experience.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
