Review on Ersa Electronically Temperature Controlled Soldering 102CDLF16 by Devin Jirsa

Big disappointment, burnt pants

I bought the Pico based on my years of experience with the Ersa stations I work on. But he has one critical problem, which is that he loves dropping a hot soldering iron in your lap. The collar is perfect on its own, but combined with the lace it only has half the thread to secure it. So it cannot be guaranteed in any way. I also have two other Ersa tips (shown with the station) that have the same issue. If the metal part of the collar knot was a few millimeters longer, everything would be fine. A big disappointment for the price. I've included a video showing the problem. I was absolutely making sure the pieces fit with the maximum thread space on the yoke and it just wasn't enough.

Pros
  • Great selection of cheap and durable replacement soldering tips (102 series)
Cons
  • Quick guide
