I have a variety of headphones priced from this pair to my $2000 Audeze LCD-3. I use these retros at work because they are closed. Before that I used my ATH-M40x when working with ZMF pads. I immediately liked the retros more than my M40s. The bass and soundstage are very interesting to listen to. Months later I still have moments when I think about how good they sound. I swapped out the pads for Brainwaves XL pads and it increased the bass and soundstage a bit, as well as being more comfortable to wear all day at work. .Honestly these are the best value for money headphones I've ever bought for my audio hobby. Of course, I bought them in a sealed case because of the warm bass and large soundstage. The highs are still detailed and clear, although there is a warm, powerful bass (very difficult to find in headphones). In fact, the M40s sounded tinny and a bit nasal compared to the retro models. It didn't take long to decide which one I wanted to hear (*Retro Wins). I would highly recommend her to anyone who seems to appreciate her performance. I think new pads are needed. I used the Schitt Fulla 2 as a DAC/amp combo with them.
