Review on Bushnell Pro Golf Laser Rangefinder by Amy Lucero

Unfortunately not worth the money

I researched a lot of rangefinders before finally deciding to only buy the best of the Pro XE range. I used it for a few rounds and the features you spend extra money on just didn't work. With the ease you would expect from such an expensive device. The first thing that worked. The tilt function worked, distances were accurate compared to 3 other models of range finders my gaming partners had. Once you clicked on the target, you were given a number very quickly. Now for the problems: One of my gaming partners has a Precision Pro NX7, another has a Bushnell Pro X2. 3 rounds were played at different times of the day and in different playing conditions and the adjusted slant distance all 3 gave were within 1 yard of each other. It's a waste of time to spend all that extra money to adjust the tilt for "elements" just to get a 1 yard distance with a range finder that doesn't account for "elements". In addition, it has a 6x zoom. but good luck adjusting the viewfinder, especially with one hand. The dial is inexplicably difficult to maneuver. With the Pro X2, I was able to adjust the viewfinder with my thumb and easily guide it over the course with one hand. Even though the 6x zoom is advertised versus the Pro X2's 5x zoom, the Pro X2 has a sharper image than the Pro XE. Pin finder with visual print. I'd say it worked about 30% of the time, and if you almost have to wave it over a flag for it to work. Pro X2 worked like clockwork the whole time. Additionally, the Pro X2 had a choice of a red or black display - a nice feature that allows the user to choose what they need depending on the environmental conditions of the day. I don't understand why they removed this feature from the newer model. I ended up returning the device and was lucky enough to get a Pro X2. Found at Costco for $299. Save some money and get rid of the headache, this upgrade is totally not worth it. Get the Pro X2 and you're done.
