I liked this product at first although the safety glass cracked after a few weeks but they sent a replacement. As an environmentalist, I bought this because I was concerned about microplastics - only to find out in the last week or so that the filter in this unit is made of coal tar. Coal tar is terrible and known to cause cancer. When they said there was a charcoal block I assumed it was just a regular charcoal block. Coal tar coated carbon is now a recipe for disaster and now I feel really bad for exposing my family to it. Therefore, this device may not be sold in California. I throw it away and get something else with ingredients that don't make me sick!
