I used these for old NEC monitors in my shop PC setup. My GPU has both HDMI and DVI outputs while my monitors only have VGA and DVI. So what I did was HDMI out to the AV receiver for the audio (it's better than RCA at 3.5mm and my PC doesn't have an optical out), HDMI from the receiver to DVI on screen 1 and these adapters on both ends. 40ft HDMI cable from GPU to screen 2. I had all these things from my old store so I didn't have to set anything up other than the price of these adapters and a 3ft DVI extender if 40ft HDMI not enough. It's used for electrical circuits in cars and Spotify on monitors which don't support 1080p anyway so I don't see any quality loss, they work great! Of course there are better options, but I wanted to see how cheap I could install and use what I had.
