Review on Tool for Securing OTC Water Pump during Maintenance by Todd Nordine

The Ecotech engine uses a timing chain to drive the water pump and is an essential tool for properly replacing the water pump without removing the timing cover and chain components. Attempting to work without this tool can result in improper timing chain tension and possible catastrophic engine failure. Unless, of course, you really want to remove the timing case cover and associated components just to replace the water pump. This tool is ideal for holding the water pump gear and timing chain when replacing the water pump. It's much better than the semicircular version from Lisle Tools as I've used both. The OTC tool allows you to remove and replace the water pump gear bolts without fear of the bolts falling into the timing case cover. A Lisle tool can miss a dropped bolt, resulting in having to remove the timing cover to remove the bolt and lost labor.
