Thermal protection may be missing

I ordered motor 99080517 to replace motor 99080345 which is used as the fan motor in a Broan bathroom fan. A mechanically new part is a replacement. The first device sent failed after a very short time. The seller quickly sent a replacement motor which I just installed. The original bathroom fan was purchased in 1994 when the house was built. I opened up the first motor I came across, one that soon failed. The windings are usually very well wound, but there are areas where they are open. I noticed that there was nothing on the exposed coils to tie them together. I have seen varnish applied to motor and transformer windings to protect them. During operation, each wire is subjected to a slight force that can cause vibration and fatigue, leading to wire breakage. It only takes a pause before the engine fails. I also noticed that the original motor has thermal protection, there is a device similar to a thermal switch between the two windings. The new motor has no thermal protection. If a significant portion of a motor winding is shorted out, the motor will overheat and the motor will continue to run. This was the failure mode for the original engine (23 year old engine), it ran for a while and then stalled. After a short break he went back to work. It looks like the lack of thermal protection could be a problem, the user won't know the motor has failed until it causes other problems. The engine looks good except for what I noticed. I'm thinking about using it for a while and then finding a replacement with thermal protection. December 23, 2017: A replacement engine sent in to replace the one that first failed also failed after a very short time. I believe it was within two hours of the surgery. I will request a refund until it makes sense to try a third replacement. Also, it's a headache to replace. This product is really rubbish, I strongly recommend staying away from this part. Interestingly, the first US-made motor lasted 23 years. The seller has to find another supplier. Instead of cutting the wires, they have to send them back and find out the cause of the failure!
