This backpack may be suitable for cold weather or if you are wearing a sweatshirt. However, if you're walking in a short-sleeved shirt or tank top, this piece will chafe you. Even after trying it on, it is very prickly. It seems that it is wrapped in sandpaper, which is not comfortable to walk on. I sent it back because I knew it wouldn't work. I don't know about the water bag because I didn't even fill it. Also, it doesn't have a chest clip to keep it tight to the body.
