Slightly smaller than I expected and I was afraid my laptop (Lenovo t470) would not fit in the storage tray but with the baffles removed it does fit. If you have a 14" Lenovo ThinkPad, which is commonly used on the company's laptops, you know it will fit in the storage box of this portable desk. I wouldn't trust a lap table as a briefcase or anything, but if you use both the You want to fit your lap table as well as your laptop in your backpack and take up as little space as possible this way you can do it in a sort of nested package Russian doll style that was my goal I don't usually write reviews but in case anyone has the same needs to nested packaging like me, I would like to post that information there. As for the material As far as it's hard plastic, I wouldn't. throw it because I'm pretty sure it's going to break and I can't speak to the durability of the hinges/latches yet, but considering the price and my specific needs, it works great.
