Review on πŸ’» ORICO 7 Port USB Hub: High-Speed USB 3.0 & 2.0 Data Hub with Power Supply for MacBook, iMac, Surface Pro, XPS, Laptop by Tanner Miller

Not sure if this is actually powered from the 5V input.

I bought this to use on my Raspberry Pi because it booted from an SSD. The RPI gave too many low voltage warnings from the SSD. I used a big old Belkin USB hub and it was fine, so I went with this one because I need a smaller hub. It works like a hub, but I still get low voltage alerts from the Pi when this USB hub is plugged in and powered by a 3 amp power supply. This hub is the only thing connected to the Pi, so I'm guessing the Pi is still using some of its energy to power the hub. Bad thing. Interesting note. When I connect the hub to the Pi and just power the hub (without powering the Pi) the lights on the Pi come on telling me that the powered hub is "powering the Pi again". . I'm not sure if this is acceptable, but the same Belkin hub experiment doesn't bring power back to the Pi.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Something is wrong
