DISCONNECTS when playing CDs! Lasted about a month!

With all our great technology, why can't anyone make a great compact portable CD player? I confess I wasn't sure if I should give it 2 or 3 stars because it has a really good sound quality, better than others. But with other issues I just couldn't give it an extra star. The first thing I noticed is that it jumps or freezes for a second on every disc. Even when it's sitting on a table and playing a flawless CD, it quite often jumps or freezes for a few seconds. This is very annoying. I've tried many CDs in it, they all do the same thing so it's not CDs. Even if you play the same CD twice, it will play at different points. Another big problem is that after about a month, the volume started to change significantly, as if it were short. I turned it on and it got very loud, and then all of a sudden it was almost inaudible. If you just left it on, it would (usually) gradually get louder until it was decent. But when you touch the volume slider, you lose all sound again and have to wait again. I think it's short because if you meet him, he'll act right again. Also, forget it if you are looking for a specific radio station. All you have to do is scroll until you find it by sound, as the numbers on the dial are so tiny you can't read them with a magnifying glass. These are the most important questions. A minor issue is the switch that turns it off to AM, FM, CD or radio. They're in an awkward order and I always miss the one I want and have to stop and watch and switch it up a notch. . . Although this is minor. I wouldn't recommend this CD player unless you want gray hair.
