I have owned many ASICS running shoes like the Nimbus, Kayano, Cumulus etc and the Novablast definitely has the thickest cushioning outsole of them all. In fact, the cushion can be too thick as it feels like walking on lips, which takes some getting used to. The good news is that compared to other running shoes, they should significantly help minimize the stress on your knees while walking or running. The bad news is that Novablast's side support is just terrible. They have the worst lateral support of any brand of shoe I have ever owned. Uphill isn't a big problem, but downhill you feel like you're slipping forward in your shoes, or worse, you can easily twist your ankle on uneven ground due to the lack of lateral support. Based on that, I would definitely recommend that you ditch these shoes and go for something with great cushioning and lateral support (like the three I mentioned above).
