I took it primarily to perform mathematical calculations. I decided to check the performance not by synthetic tests, but in a real application. Wrote a program in one mathematical package. I drove it on different prots (with friends, at work and on this one). The program uses only 2 cores, so the number of cores does not matter in this case. Here's what I got: 34.4 sec. -Intel Core i5 2500K 4.4GHz 35.2 sec. -Intel Core i5 2500K 4.3GHz 37.1 sec. -Intel Core i5 2500K 4.2GHz 39 sec. -Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 3.3GHz 40 sec. -Intel Xeon E3-1275 3.4GHz 41 sec. -Intel Xeon E31230 3.2GHz 43 sec. -Intel Core 2500K(nominal) 3.3GHz 45 sec. -Intel Core i5 2400 3.1GHz 62 sec. -Intel Core i5 2500K 2.6GHz 66 sec. -Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz 81 sec. -Intel Core Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 89 sec. -AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0 GHz 91 sec. -Intel Core i3 330M 22022GHz 101 sec. -AMD Turion II P540 Dual-Core 2.4GHz 102 sec. -Intel Core i5 2500K 1.6GHz 108 sec. -AMD Athlon X2 5200+ 2.7GHz For interest, in some tests I specifically underestimated the frequency of this processor in order to compare it with AMD. As you can see, superiority on the face. The same is true in synthetics, and in the program for FEM analysis.
