Review on Solve The Mystery Of Theft In Cliffrock Villa With HABA The Key! by Malacia Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really clever deduction game that won't hurt your brain!

I love games that involve mysteries and deduction. I also love escape room type games. Fortunately, this one combines the best of both genres.Haba is a company that I am a huge fan of. They create games that are accessible to a variety of people and their components are high quality. This game also meets both of those characteristics. The concept is simple, yet extremely clever. And, unlike most escape room and mystery games, can be played many times over. The secret lies in the cards and the colored key components. Each uniquely colored key represents a different puzzle and there are a great many cards that are connected to it. So, even after you have exhausted the game by playing all of the colored key puzzles, the chances that you will remember the solution or will get all the same clues are minimal. It's not a race. The trick is for each player to solve the puzzle in the most efficient way possible by prudent card selection. And, it is really easy to make a silly mistake! To see if you are correct, you insert the key into a cardboard board with a variety of codes. If you are correct, the key color will match the color on the reverse side of the cardboard. The game is relatively brief. I can't see each round lasting more than the advertised 20-30 minutes and I can easily see most of the players wanting to do another round. The game comes with dry-erase player shields which make great aids for solving the puzzles. The only negative that I can come up with here is the price of the game itself. With high quality often comes a high price tag. But, when you see what you are actually getting for the price, it can be a tough sell. Really, it comes down to how much entertainment and fun you will get out of it as well as how many hours it will last. Since the game has high replayability, the high price tag may very well be worth it!
