Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Bertech Temperature-resistant Rubber Wrist Grounding by John Ghattamaraju

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Functional but slightly imperfect mat

This item comes in many sizes so first let me say that I have a size 18 by 30 inches with 0, 08 inch thickness. I don't use the user much. Actually this is my first time in electronics repair and I have 2 phones that I want to get repaired. Received this today and saw an error so I immediately wanted to leave a review. Good things first. That's a good thickness. It feels solid, it lays down quite well and you can see the two layer design making it look spectacular based on what I would expect from a rug like this. The size is really good too. I can only imagine if you use it to repair computers, you'll need more. I like having lots of space so this size is ideal for phone repairs. I wouldn't get any smaller or bigger. It also comes with a wrist strap and cable to connect the mat to ground, also known as a screw in a socket. Now for the bad in case I missed something. There are metal pieces at each top end of the mat so you can attach a ground wire. I forgot what they call the type of clip used, but there is no locking or screwing feature so the clip isn't really a clip. He doesn't even lean on it because the weight of the wire will roll the clip off the piece of metal, even though they appear to be designed to fit inside each other. It's weird and I have to put weight on the clamp to hold it. . Disappointing. However, as a hobbyist I wanted something useful without spending a lot of money and I'm not sure if other similarly priced rugs are any better.

Pros
  • KIT: Includes ESD high temperature mat, wrist strap with removable alligator clip and ground wire
Cons
  • High price
