Review on πŸ”” MA795DC Remote Strobe Motion Activated Alarm and Door Chime (White) - UniquExceptional by Eduardo Locke

Revainrating 4 out of 5

simple concept that works

I have 4 of these around the house and in my garage and I think they are the perfect yet inexpensive solution for peace of mind. I've been using it for about 4-5 years and all but one work perfectly. I replaced the one that had intermittent issues with this one. Because of their simplicity, there aren't many reasons they can go wrong, and they're very easy to set up - once you get the concept, it takes no more than putting in batteries. When I first bought them I tried to fix them permanently somewhere, but I had so many problems getting the sensor to the right height that it wouldn't trigger when a cat or dog walked by. I finally found out that it is easier to install the device. on the table and use tape to mark the position of the base so that its position never changes after battery changes etc. I wish the company would differentiate between models. This is a standalone model, while the others I have, although they can be standalone, work in conjunction with a simple alarm. That is, even if the alarm/sensor that was triggered was somehow disabled, the base alarm (which may be a considerable distance from the unit with an infrared sensor - I have two units in a detached garage, for example, but have the alarm inside the house at least 50 feet away is - so I can hear it if it works) continues to sound - like a backup of the main alarm. Unfortunately due to the fact that they are two different models I couldn't set the DIP switch to the same code as my other and I would have to use two remotes to set up the alarms - just a minor inconvenience.
