The screw that attaches the handle to the lid is too short; The screw doesn't reach through my rather thin tempered glass cover to the threaded receiver inside the grip. The handle consists of two components: the handle itself and a Bakelite disk, which serves as a heat shield and is located between the handle and the lid. Without the shield, the screw is long enough to attach the handle to the lid. However, this will result in your fingers touching the uncomfortably hot lid, so don't do it. Instead, find a longer screw of the correct diameter and pitch, like I did. Or buy a less casually designed replacement pen.
