This device works well to reduce the shock of my ground source heat pump's water shut-off valve. I calculated it using Soux Chief's equations provided on their website. The first one I bought lasted 2 years and then stopped working. I removed it and bought another new one and the new one works fine. I tried contacting Soux Chief online about the crash but they never responded to my message so I don't expect them to help if you run into problems. I gave it 4 stars because I was disappointed with their online support which doesn't seem to exist. I just hope the 653-B has an average lifespan of over 2 years.
