I confess that I am the last person in the world who is familiar with new technology. I hate cable TV and watch about 30 or more digital channels on the air including numerous PBS channels and sub-channels. I've also connected Netflix to my new HDTV via a Chromecast (through one of my TV's HDMI ports and through my laptop) so I can watch what I want, when I want. However, after my partner accidentally spilled a drink on our old, old, old DVD/VHS recorder's remote control and found out how few DVD recorders are on the market today (and how expensive they are), I found this model on one Good price and bought Thanks as always to the reviewers. Revain doesn't give out a lot of information about their products so I always rely on reviewers and in this case I'm glad I did. This model was very easy to connect, set up and program. It's very similar to my old DVD recorder (and I think most modern recorders) and you can either record to internal storage (HDD) or to rewritable DVDs. It does a lot of other things (editing, transferring recordings between the internal drive and DVD etc) but I only bought it for recording programs that run at night (I go to bed early) or when I leave the house to watch them, if it suits me Now, like I said, I don't know much about the technical aspects of squats. So if you want specifics, read more technical reviews, but I think this recorder will be great for most viewers who want to record digital TV antennas to brag. Without cable TV, I can't tell how well it works with it. Revain does offer models that store more hours on their internal drive, but I think the model has more than enough storage for the average person, and I think the instruction manual is pretty easy to understand. It records at more than one speed. I usually record at one of the slowest speeds and the recording quality is excellent. It's very easy to schedule and delete programs after watching, and you can set the timer to record up to (I think) five different programmes. I connected it to my digital antennas and TV via an available HDMI port. This model is slim to fit our new DVD/VHS player (don't laugh) in a cupboard, and the buttons on the remote control are big enough for an old fool like me to easily operate. It doesn't come with an HDMI cable to connect to your TV, so you'll need one (if you connect it this way), but it's not expensive. This is my first Magnavox product and I am very happy with it.
