I replaced the fuel pump again on our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The pump works great but the fuel gauge only lasted a week. This is the fourth fuel pump I have changed on this car in the last 5 years. I can't find a reliable brand anywhere. I was hoping Bosch would be a good brand but with a bad fuel gauge it's just as bad as the others. I asked the dealer to make a third pump, hoping to find a reliable brand. Turns out they use the same crappy pumps as the parts store. It went like this for a few years. Can't say it's a Jeep issue, the car has over 170,000 miles on it. I think I need to reset the tank again. Maybe I'll cut a hole in the ground. Make it a quick change part. Update: I ordered and installed a new pump from the same supplier. Works perfectly. The problem is that I cannot return a failed pump as it is a hazardous material. It is built in and smells of petrol. I will not lie to UPS about this. For them it is highly flammable even when completely dry. It only smells like gasoline.
