Review on 🚲 Kenda K909A Smooth Wire Bead Bicycle Tire by MICHELIN by Francisco Russell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's called rolling resistance, folks. and those cute rubber tires don't have it.

I don't understand why bike manufacturers insist on studded tires on children's bikes. They have terrible rolling resistance and are noisy. Two pretty silly qualities for a tire to have on bikes designed for kids to learn to ride. And the vast majority of toddlers don't triple jump a local BMX track, let alone ride off-road on their 16-inch bikes. Maybe someday they'll catch the key, but probably not if the $75 "dual suspension," "disc brake," "mountain" bikes selling like hot cakes at Wallaworld are any indication. So I bought my kid a Goodwill bike for less than what I paid for one of those great tires that just needed a little care and maintenance. I immediately removed the dry, rotten tractor tires and put on a set of these bad boys, which have a tread pattern remarkably similar to my dad's Dunlops on his 1000cc sport touring bike, oiled the chain, brought in some new mini-mushroom on the handlebars and he was gone. Now he rolls down the sidewalk quietly and effortlessly with no handles, doesn't sound like a zero rolling resistance 4x4 monster truck, and in his used rally he looks smarter than all the other neighborhood kids in their Paw Patrol SUVs.
